Looking back at the amazing jewellery we saw in 2012, I can’t help but stop and remember some particular pieces, all different and yet made by the same person; Lorraine Schwartz.
They say it takes generations to perfect this trade and Lorraine Schwartz is living proof that this is true. She is the 3rd generation of a jewellery trade family and she certainly took advantage of the experience gathered by her family predecessors. After taking over the family business in 1989 when her mother died of cancer, she renamed the company Lorraine Schwartz Diamonds & Fine Jewelry. These days, her jewellery is only sold at luxury goods department store Bergdorf Goodman, by appointment at her 5th Avenue showroom in Manhattan or by private commission.
Her pieces first began to gain notoriety in 2002 when Halle Berry chose to wear her jewellery on the red carpet. Since then we have seen her creations worn by Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Cate Blanchett, and Elizabeth Taylor, just to mention a few.
Lorraine’s pieces are bold and certainly make a statement. Like them or not, you can’t help to admire the amazing craftsmanship and incredible quality of gemstones she uses. The only difficulty you will have is deciding which is your favourite piece from this selection….
